An artist’s artist

“FOR ME,” said the English artist David Carr, “the greatest paintings are those where the paint becomes what it depicts.” In these videos, Carr discusses his life and work and also his philosophy of what it means to be an artist. Working on Primrose Hill in London (below), he explores the rewards and challenges of painting on location.
His advice to other artists was always the same: “Just do the work,” he would say, and everything else will take care of itself.

Art Matters 
I recently inherited two paintings by David Carr (John 1944-2009) I have found this little bit of information about him by searching the internet.. The small scene of Florence is also signed on the back, dated 2002. The other scene could be Italy also and is a country scene. This is my favourite. I inherited these pictures from my aunt who may have met him in Tuscany as she did do residential art courses there. I would like to know more about the artist and if the work is valuable and if at all possible how my aunt knew him. My Aunt was also from Yorkshire so that my have bonded them.
